Shanghai has two airports
- Hongqiao (airport code SHA) is the older airport used mainly for flights inside China.
- Pudong (airport code PVG) opened in 1999 and is the main international airport for Shanghai. It is new, large, but 30 kilometers from Shanghai center. It features the world‘s only commercial magnetic levitation train that will take you 18 kilometers in 8 minutes to Longyang Road Taxi Station for 50RMB (about $7). From there, it's a short taxi ride to the hotel (less than 30RMB). Printout the hotel name in Chinese here.

Taxis
Expect to pay cash for taxi fares. Each taxi will have a taxi meter which must be used by the driver else you don't have to pay. At the end of a trip you will be given a receipt listing the price and distance traveled.
It is best to have your destination written in Chinese so that you can show the driver or else have the doorman at the hotel direct the driver. Also, get a written address of the hotel in Chinese from the Concierge and take it with you when you leave the hotel.
